Lambda Iteration and Genetic Algorithms Application to solve the Economic Load Dispatch Problem of Seven Nigerian Thermal Power Plants

Economic load dispatch (ELD) is a method of earmarking the required demand between existing generations in power system and principally determining allocation generators to each generation for various systems levels. ELD an essential component planning operation. solutions are found by solving conventional flow equations, while at same time ensuring that fuel costs minimized. There many methods developed problems, but this work restricted two, which Lambda Iteration Method (LIM) Genetic Algorithm (GA) modified with sorting algorithm. The main objective apply two solve problems networks comparing performance GA LIM terms cost efficiency. usefulness economic problem emphasized. Simulation results obtained on network using verify their effectiveness problems. Lastly, approaches have been effectively applied harmonization Nigerian 32-bus powered seven thermal three hydro generating units. study shows exhibits better than from both best possible allocations. demonstrate based gave solution reduction, when compared those LIM. By blending probabilities crossover mutation, application techniques, computer usage can be significantly reduced reduction.
